The benefits of growing a beard in Islam
There are innumerable ethnic groups in the world. Each nation has its own uniform and unique symbol. As such, the Muslim nation will also have a separate uniform - this is normal. And it is universally acknowledged that a nation that does not maintain its own uniform will soon be vanished into another nation.
The Islamic Perspective Of The Beard |
It is obligatory (wajib) to keep a beard
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, 'Longen your beard and shorten your mustache. This pure hadith about the beard has been narrated in various sources in several hadith books. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) also wore a beard. His beard was black, deep, thick and wide. His chest would be filled with his beard. According to Islam, it is obligatory to keep a beard. There is no debate in any of the four madhhabs. It is not a sunnah to grow a beard, as some in this age think. So it is haraam to cut or trim a beard under a particular measurement.
Beards of Muslims vs. beards of non-Muslims
Muslims wear beards and many non-Muslims also wear beards. The differences between the two beards are -
one. Muslims wear beards as a Sunnah of the Prophet and non-Muslims wear beards as a fashion or hobby.
Two. Non-Muslims wear both beards and mustaches, while Muslims grow long beards and short mustaches.
Three. The beard of Muslims is kept clean every time they perform ablution. Non-Muslims do not do that.
Four. Many Muslims shorten their beards maintaining a particular measurement, but non-Muslims do not.
Five. Many Muslims use henna on their beards. This is the Sunnah of the Prophet. But no non-Muslim uses henna on his beard.
In this way, the beards of Muslims and non-Muslims can be distinguished.
The disadvantage of not having a beard
There are numerous disadvantages to not keeping a beard -
one. It is a custom of mushriks, fire-worshipers and infidels to shave or shorten their beards. And it is haram for Muslims to imitate infidels. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, 'Anyone who adopts the resemblance (dress, shape) of another nation will be considered to belong to that nation. '(Jame Chagir, 2/6)
Two. The beardless look is consistent with the look of a woman. It is haraam to have such resemblance.
Three. This shows disobedience to Allah and His Messenger. Allah says, 'Whoever of you disobeys Allah and His Messenger, for him is the fire of Hell, wherein they will belong forever. (Surah Jinn, 23)
Four. By not having a beard, God's creation is changed and distorted. Allah says, 'There is no change in Allah's creation. (Surah Room, 30)
Five. It is an act of following the non-believers. But Allah forbids to follow the disbelievers. 'Then I established you on the special provisions of the religion. So you follow it; Do not follow the whims of the ignorant. (Surah Jasiya, 18)
Six. If you do not have a beard, your eyesight decreases. Seven. You'll lose the merit and opportunity for performing Azan-Iqamat
Eight. Other sins are committed once. But if you do not have a beard, sins will always be written. Because it is part of the ongoing sin.
Ten. Munkar-Nakir's question and answer in the grave become difficult.
The religious benefits of having a beard
One. Eyesight remains fine. As a result, it is possible to recite the Qur'an well.
Two. If you have a beard, you can refrain from evil deeds. It will be a shame to participate in illegal activities, while carrying a sign of prophet on tour face.
Three. Can be known as a believer. Otherwise, it becomes difficult to differentiate between a believer and a disbeliever.
Four. If he dies in an unknown place, as a Muslim, he is blessed with a dignified bath and burial.
Five. It will be easy to claim as the ummah of the Prophet on the Day of Judgment and it will be possible to gain his recommendation.
The physical benefits of keeping a beard
Maulana Asheke Ilahi Mirathi (Rah.) Writes in his book 'Darhi Ki Qadr O Hikmat': Unani medicine has long come to the conclusion that beard enhances the beauty of men. Protects throat and chest from cold and heat. One of the modern doctors wrote: Shaving the beard all the time causes adverse effects on the veins of the eyes. As a result, the sight of the eyes gradually becomes dimmer. Another doctor wrote: The beard prevents germs from entering into the face. Without a beard, sexual energy reaches zero.
One doctor wrote that if the practice of shaving beards continued in men of any lineage for up to seven generations, then the child of the eighth generation would be beardless. The reason for this is that in every generation, sexual energy will be reduced and it will come to zero in the eighth generation.
A BBC show 'Trust Me, I'm a Doctor' recently conducted a small experiment on this question. Based on this, the scientists say that they have found no evidence that bearded men have more germs on their face than clean shaven men. A hospital in the United States recently conducted a study on this. The study, published in the Journal of Hospital Infections, found that clean shaven men had more germs on their faces than bearded men. The researchers say that the methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), a bacterium that is resistant to antibiotics, is three times more likely to be found in the face of non-bearded men than in bearded men. What is the reason for this? Researchers say that the light rubbing of the skin on the face while shaving creates an ideal environment for bacteria to nest. Beard on the other hand helps prevent infection. A similar experiment was carried out on the BBC's 'Trust Me, I'm a Doctor' program by collecting bacterial samples from the beards of several men.
